The Richmore Fall/Winter 2023 season concept focuses on two women who have been described as "golden voices". The first is Sarah Bernhardt, the great actress of the Belle Epoque period in France. She was the first international star whose popularity transcended cultural and economic boundaries. She was a central figure in the Art Nouveau movement of the time, and her wonderful voice was described as "golden" by Victor Hugo.
The second is the great singer Maria Callas. She was born in 1923, replacing Sarah Bernhardt, and was praised by Ernest Hemingway as a "golden voice" for her outstanding singing and acting skills as the heroine of his opera.
Although Sarah Bernhardt and Maria Callas were active in different fields, theater and opera, they were both called "golden voices" and shared many of the same roles they played. The season will be developed with the roles played by Sarah Bernhardt and Maria Callas, both of whom were born 100 years ago.
